I renamed the blog today and moved it to this new address so as not to seem so random anymore. I’ll also be trying to change the theme to one that more closely matches my portfolio site, so the place might get messy for a bit.

I think I’m done. For tonight, at least. I’ll have to look at it again with fresh eyes tomorrow.
Sleep time!

WIP update 4. Put in a sky, moved my little spaceman around, and cast a shadow over him.
Things I still have to do:1. Render the ground2. Drop some little decals at the horizon to suggest a background3. Sharpen up the space shuttle and shadow4. Add ambient light all around ( = orange highlights)5.  Add some texture
Pretty close now!

So far I’ve been doing these with a preconceived idea in mind, but tonight I was tired and just started putting stuff down without thinking about it. I didn’t know what I was painting until I was about halfway through. I think it ended up being better that way…

I painted a little astronaut man tonight.

A couple more days of landscapes… I can make it. This isn’t like pulling teeth for me anymore, but I gotta say I’m still not a huge fan. Tony and Indigo have been doing these little thumbnail composition exercises in grayscale, and I wanted to give it a shot. I liked doing these a lot more than trying to flesh out an actual painting from reference. Also check out Amanda who’s doing landscapes every day too!

Here’s a speed paint of a sand dune and a city. I call it “dunecity.jpg”

Got my portfolio site up and running over the weekend, and I’ve been poking at it ever since. I also set up a new email account with my domain name through Google Apps, which was a lot easier than I thought it would be (Google pretty much walks you through it). The site’s a work in progress, but I’m happy to have something up at last!
By the way, if anyone else in portfolio class has questions about setting up their website or email the way they want it, feel free to ask. I learned a lot doing this.
